Hugo Reichmuth was born and raised in a small village in Switzerland, where he discovered early-on that he had a talent and passion for working with wood. As a teenager, he became an apprentice to study fine furniture and cabinet making and graduated top of his class four years later.
Then, as a 21-year old man, Hugo sought adventure in the United States, where he learned English and enrolled at Woodbury University in Burbank, California. There, Hugo learned the engineering behind design and graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in interior architecture.
Now, Hugo works as a design detailer who prepares exhibits for tradeshows, museums and events for construction using computer programs like AutoCAD. For his designs, Hugo couples his hands-on woodworking experience with the modern efficiency and accuracy of computers. He knows how much pressure wood can take before it breaks, therefore is able to test its limits and make wood appear fluid. The product is ingenious designs like the Hugo Chair.
